About the Opportunity

Are you a qualified Environmental Health Practitioner (EHP) seeking a high-impact, commercial role outside statutory local authority enforcement?

We are partnering with a market-leading food safety and compliance consultancy to appoint an experienced Field Food Safety & Health Safety Consultant.

This field-based auditing role gives you the autonomy to conduct multi-site risk assessments, technical hygiene audits, and compliance coaching across premier hospitality, hotel, corporate catering, and retail brands. Whether you are aiming to complete your CIEH Pathways (REnvH) or leverage your EHORB / Chartered status in the private sector, this position offers structured career progression, modern digital compliance tools, and robust technical support.

Key Responsibilities & Day-to-Day

- Commercial Site Auditing: Execute multi-site third-party audits covering food hygiene standards, occupational health & safety (H&S), and basic fire safety across corporate and hospitality client portfolios.
- Technical Report Writing: Author concise, high-accuracy compliance reports detailing hazard analysis, non-conformances, and corrective action plans within strict SLAs.
- Client Advisory & Coaching: Conduct on-site coaching sessions, site mobilisation visits, and gap analysis to elevate client safety standards and regulatory readiness.
- Field Route Planning: Manage your daily regional itinerary in direct coordination with a dedicated internal scheduling team.
- Quality Assurance & Calibration: Participate in routine QA report reviews, calibration exercises, and peer shadow audits to maintain top-tier auditing standards.
- Stakeholder Management: Engage with on-site kitchen managers, head chefs, and regional operations directors to influence business compliance culture.

Regulatory Compliance & CPD: Maintain annual CPD points and stay current with evolving UK/EU food safety legislation and food standard guidelines.

Candidate Requirements

Essential Qualifications & Skills:

Education: Accredited BSc (Hons) or MSc in Environmental Health (or recognised overseas equivalent).
Technical Knowledge: Deep working knowledge of UK/EU food safety law, HACCP principles, food hygiene regulations, and health & safety at work legislation.
Auditing Experience: Proven expertise in technical reporting, risk management, and formal compliance inspections.
Communication: Clear written report-writing skills and strong verbal influence when working with operations teams.
Mobility: Valid UK Driving Licence and access to a reliable vehicle for regional travel.
Right to Work: Full UK Right to Work (role subject to standard background and DBS checks).

Desirable Criteria:

CIEH Registered, EHORB listed, or actively pursuing CIEH Chartered Status (REnvH).
Chartered Environmental Health Practitioner (CIEH or REHIS).
NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent occupational health and safety qualification.
Fire Risk Assessment certification.
Hands-on experience auditing multi-site restaurant groups, hotel chains, or franchise accounts.
