Buckingham Futures are currently recruiting for a Private Sector Housing Officer to join a high-performing team for our client in the East of England on a 6-month contract (with potential to extend), offering an umbrella rate of circa £50 per hour.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced housing professional looking to take on a varied and meaningful caseload within private sector housing. The role focuses on housing compliance, enforcement and disrepair, offering an excellent balance between site inspections, investigations and case management.

Key responsibilities:

Investigate tenant complaints and undertake property inspections
Assess housing conditions using HHSRS and the Decent Homes Standard
Prepare and serve enforcement notices where required
Manage disrepair cases and produce detailed schedules of condition
Support HMO licensing, inspections and compliance activity
Identify empty properties and support initiatives to bring them back into use
Work collaboratively with partner agencies on housing improvement initiatives

What we’re looking for:

Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and housing enforcement
Experience within private sector housing, disrepair or compliance
Good understanding of housing standards and regulatory frameworks
Ability to manage your own caseload effectively and work autonomously
