Buckingham Futures is currently working on an excellent opportunity for an experienced Private Sector Housing Officer in Essex, and we would like to invite interested candidates to register their interest.

Our client is looking to appoint an experienced officer to join a high performing Private Sector Housing team on an initial 3 month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension.

This is a varied and rewarding role, offering a mix of site inspections, enforcement activity and case management across a broad range of private sector housing matters.

Key responsibilities include:

Investigating tenant complaints and carrying out property inspections.
Assessing properties using the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS) and against the Decent Homes Standard.
Preparing and serving statutory notices and undertaking enforcement action where appropriate.
Managing housing disrepair cases and preparing schedules of condition.
Supporting HMO licensing, inspections and compliance activity.
Identifying empty properties and assisting with initiatives to bring them back into use.
Working collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to improve housing standards across the borough.

Essential experience:

Strong working knowledge of HHSRS and private sector housing enforcement.
Experience managing private sector housing, housing standards, compliance or disrepair cases
A sound understanding of relevant housing legislation and regulatory frameworks.

Rate: c£50 per hour (umbrella)
