At Buckingham Futures we are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Property Partner (Housing) to join our Corporate Landlord Asset Strategy Team on a permanent basis.

This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified property professional to play a leading role in the strategic management of a diverse operational property portfolio. You will work closely with senior stakeholders, providing expert property advice and developing long-term asset strategies that support service delivery while ensuring the Council’s property estate is managed efficiently and cost-effectively.

The successful candidate will have significant experience in property asset management, be RICS qualified, and possess the leadership skills to manage both property projects and team members.

The Opportunity

As one of five Property Partners within the Asset Strategy Team, you will act as the strategic link between Property Services and Council service areas, ensuring property assets continue to meet operational needs while delivering value for money.

You will lead the development of Service Asset Management Plans, identify opportunities for estate optimisation, and deliver property solutions that support organisational objectives.

This is a varied role combining strategic asset management, stakeholder engagement, project delivery and people management.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic management of operational property assets used to deliver Council services.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with service departments and senior stakeholders.
  • Develop and implement Service Asset Management Plans.
  • Provide expert professional advice on all aspects of property asset management.
  • Identify opportunities for estate rationalisation, efficiency savings and improved asset performance.
  • Lead and manage property projects including:
    Freehold and leasehold disposals
    Property acquisitions
    Estate rationalisation programmes
  • Development and regeneration advice
  • Negotiate and complete complex property transactions.
  • Monitor asset performance and recommend improvements.
  • Line manage one or more Property Managers, providing leadership, mentoring and performance management.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, professional standards and Council policies.
  • Work collaboratively with internal departments and external organisations to maximise opportunities across the public sector property estate.

About You

You will be a proactive and strategic property professional with extensive experience managing operational property portfolios within a large and complex organisation.

You will possess excellent commercial awareness, strong negotiation skills and the ability to provide clear, pragmatic advice to a wide range of stakeholders.

Essential Requirements

  • MRICS / RICS qualified.
  • Significant experience in property asset management.
  • Proven experience managing complex property portfolios.
  • Strong knowledge of acquisitions, disposals, leasehold and freehold transactions.
  • Experience developing and implementing Asset Management Plans.
  • Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Experience managing or supervising staff.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to balance operational service requirements with strategic asset management objectives.

Desirable

  • Experience working within Local Government or the public sector.
  • Knowledge of regional property markets and public sector estate strategies.
  • Experience delivering estate rationalisation or transformation programmes.
