Are you an experienced Licensing Officer looking for your next permanent opportunity within Local Government?

Buckingham Futures is working with a Local Authority in the East Midlands that is looking to appoint an experienced Licensing Officer on a full-time, permanent basis.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong regulatory background who enjoys working across licensing, compliance and enforcement and wants to play an important role in protecting communities and supporting responsible businesses.

The role will involve:

  • Managing the administration, regulation, compliance and enforcement of licensing functions.
  • Assessing applications and undertaking licensing inspections and compliance checks.
  • Investigating complaints, breaches and potential offences.
  • Taking appropriate and proportionate enforcement action where required.
  • Interpreting and applying legislation fairly and consistently.
  • Working with businesses, licence holders, applicants, residents, elected members and internal Council teams.
  • Dealing confidently with challenging situations and clearly explaining regulatory requirements.

Experience in areas such as premises licensing, personal licensing, taxi and private hire, gambling, animal licensing or other Local Authority licensing functions would be highly relevant.

We’re particularly interested in candidates with:

  • Strong knowledge of licensing legislation and regulatory frameworks.
  • Previous experience within a Local Authority licensing or enforcement environment.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • The confidence to investigate, make decisions and take appropriate enforcement action.
  • A full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work purposes.
