Buckingham Futures are supporting a Local Authority in Devon who are looking for an experienced Homelessness & Housing solutions Advisor to join their team.

Location: Devon (Local Authority)
Rate: £21.86 per hour (umbrella)
Contract: 3–6 months (with potential extension)
Start: ASAP
Working pattern: Hybrid / On-site requirements depending on service needs

Main Duties

Provide high-quality homelessness and housing advice to customers, focusing on early prevention.
Act as the first point of contact for homelessness, housing options and allocations enquiries.
Manage the duty line and face-to-face triage service, giving initial advice in line with legislation.
Arrange temporary accommodation in emergencies.
Support customers to use digital self-service where appropriate.
Advise applicants on joining the housing register and assist with digital applications.
Administer the Home Choice system, ensuring correct registration and banding.
Process incoming correspondence and maintain accurate case records.
Support the team and managers with reports, service improvements and casework.
Monitor temporary accommodation costs and grant spending.
Build relationships with private landlords to prevent homelessness.
Work with internal teams, external agencies, and community partners.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of housing legislation and safeguarding.
