Buckingham Futures is working in partnership with a local authority in South West England to recruit an experienced and qualified Environmental Health Officer / Private Sector Housing Officer for an interim assignment.
Working Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 2 to 3 days on-site per week
This is a front-line role supporting a busy and dedicated Private Sector Housing Team while the current post holder is on long-term sick leave.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate complaints relating to damp and mould, disrepair and waste accumulation
- Enforce Minimum Energy Efficiency Standards (MEES)
- Bring long-term empty properties back into use
- Work with landlords and tenants to improve standards in the private rented sector
- (Desirable) Administer Disabled Facilities Grants
- (Desirable) Use Uniform software
Requirements:
- Strong knowledge and experience in private sector housing enforcement
- Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent investigative, communication, and case management skills
