Buckingham Futures is working with a local authority client in the Midlands who is looking to appoint an experienced Environmental Health Officer or Higher Certificate Technical Officer to support their food safety inspection programme, with a planned start date of January 2026.

The position is offered on a contractual, hourly basis, with flexibility for those who may prefer to work on a per-inspection basis, allowing the workload to fit around your availability.

Key Duties:

Carry out food hygiene inspections in accordance with the FSA Food Law Code of Practice
Complete inspection documentation and accurately risk-rate food premises
Allocate Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) scores where appropriate
Review food business registrations and provide support with registration processes when required

Essential Criteria:

A recognised qualification: Higher Certificate in Food Control or an Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate/Diploma
Proven competency in Food Establishment Inspections (Cluster 4)
A minimum of 10 hours Food Core CPD, in line with the current Food Law Code of Practice and Practice Guidance
All relevant qualifications and CPD evidence must be provided to Buckingham Futures prior to commencement
