Buckingham Futures are working with a Local Authority to appoint a skilled leader to oversee the Development Management and Planning Enforcement functions, driving sustainable growth and regeneration in line with the Local Plan and corporate priorities.

This would be a 6 month contract  and the post holder will manage the Lead Officers for Development Management, Planning Delivery, and Planning Enforcement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership and operational management across Development Management and Enforcement.
  • Deliver the service plan in line with corporate objectives, promoting innovation and digital transformation.
  • Lead on major and complex planning applications and provide expert professional advice.
  • Negotiate Section 106 and CIL agreements to secure infrastructure and community benefits.
  • Oversee Planning Committees, appeals, and enforcement cases, exercising delegated authority where appropriate.
  • Manage staff performance, development, and resources to ensure high-quality outcomes.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree in Town Planning or related discipline.
  • Chartered Member of the RTPI (or eligibility).
  • Significant experience managing Development Management and Enforcement services.
  • Strong understanding of planning law, local government operations, and strategic planning
