BF4949 – Housing Officer

Buckingham Futures is working with a local authority to recruit a Housing Officer on a 3-month contract to support their private sector housing team. You’ll assist with property inspections, enforcement, and grant management to ensure homes in the borough are safe, well-maintained, and compliant with housing legislation.

Key Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess private dwellings under the HHSRS, identifying hazards and taking appropriate enforcement action.
  
• Manage Disabled Facilities Grants (DFG) and related loan applications, liaising with residents, contractors, and Adult Social Care.
  
• Inspect and license HMOs, ensuring compliance with property, management, and fire safety standards.
  
• Investigate complaints, advice landlords and tenants, and help bring empty homes back into use.
  

Qualifications & Experience

• Degree or equivalent in Environmental Health, Building Surveying, or related field.
  
• Experience in private sector housing enforcement and property inspection.
  
• Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 2004, HHSRS, and related legislation.
  
• Experience with DFGs and HMO licensing.
