Our Local Authority client in South London is recruiting for x6 Selective Licensing Officers to start as soon as possible for a minimum of six months.
Primary Objectives
The role involves carrying out the duties of a Senior Selective Licensing Officer, helping to administer the Council’s Selective Licensing Scheme by providing a comprehensive and professional inspection service of private rented properties. You will support the development and coordination of services to the Private Rented Sector in relation to Selective Licensing and undertake enforcement action using relevant legislation to ensure compliance with scheme requirements.
Main Duties
You will implement the provisions of the Council’s housing strategies relating to private sector housing, particularly the Council’s Designation for Selective Licensing. You will inspect private rented properties for compliance, proactively and reactively using housing legislation to safeguard tenants, residents, and neighbourhoods. You will engage with neighbourhood problem solving approaches, work closely with partners to coordinate activities, contribute to the development and implementation of an inspection programme, investigate complaints and service requests, liaise with Legal Services in legal proceedings, and advise landlords on required actions to bring properties up to statutory and scheme standards.
Qualifications
Candidates should hold a degree in Environmental Health, Surveying, or an equivalent field, and possess a HHSRS Training Certificate of Competence.
