(BF4914) – Tree Officer – Essex

Buckingham Futures are currently recruiting for a Tree Officer on behalf of our Local Authority client in Essex.

Contract: Temporary (6–12 months)
Rate: £400 per day (via umbrella, inside IR35)

The Role:
Our client is seeking an experienced and proactive Tree Officer to join its Green Space team. This role involves regular site inspections, contract supervision, technical reporting, and direct engagement with residents and stakeholders. You’ll be helping to maintain tree safety and health across the borough, supporting biodiversity and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise tree contractors and monitor work quality
• Carry out daily inspections and audits across parks and streets
• Manage routine, emergency, and ad-hoc maintenance contracts
• Provide technical advice and handle complex enquiries
• Maintain and analyse data using asset management systems
• Support community planting initiatives and respond to insurance/legal requests
• Ensure health and safety compliance across all operations
• Contribute to emergency planning and interdepartmental coordination

What You’ll Bring:

• A recognised qualification in arboriculture or equivalent experience
• Extensive experience in tree inspection, legislation, and maintenance
• Proficiency in GIS, tree management systems, and inspection tools
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• A full UK driving licence
