Buckingham Futures is delighted to present an excellent opportunity for a Generalist Environmental Health Practitioner to join a team in the Channel Islands on a 6 Month Contract. This role offers the chance to work across various Environmental Health areas, with flexibility to consider candidates with expertise in specific fields.
The successful candidate will play a key role in developing, implementing, and enforcing health policies, using their specialist technical skills and knowledge to maintain and safeguard public health standards.
You will cover any or all of the following areas:
- Food Safety and Food Standards
- Environmental Protection
- Housing
- Noise Control
- Occupational Health and Safety
- Pollution Control
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine or unplanned visits and inspections to ensure compliance with health and safety legislation.
- Provide advice and assistance to householders and businesses.
- Collect evidence (photos, drawings, samples) and conduct interviews during inspections.
- Investigate public complaints and take appropriate action.
- Perform food hygiene and standards inspections.
- Investigate workplace accidents and complaints, identifying areas of negligence.
- Address outbreaks of infectious diseases to prevent further spread.
- Advise on planning and licensing applications.
- Monitor noise, air, land, and water pollution levels.
- Take enforcement action, initiate legal proceedings, and present evidence in court.
- Advise on health and safety issues related to new developments.
- Arrange for the removal of abandoned vehicles and refuse.
