Buckingham futures have an exciting opportunity which is now available to join a local authority council based in North London as part of their dynamic and ground-breaking Transport Strategy team. This work is central to the borough’s bold ambitions to create a greener and healthier borough.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Working on the councils key transport strategy which includes commitments to deliver walking, cycling and accessibility action plans that build upon the overarching objectives, principles, policies and commitments set out in the Transport Strategy and describe the Council’s proposals for encouraging walking and cycling and improving accessibility in greater detail.
- In addition to delivering the action plan and monitoring report, the role will include responding to ad hoc requests for transport policy advice and maintaining the ongoing relationship with local stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS:
- a broad understanding of transport planning policies, principles and issues;
• experience of working within a recognised project management framework;
• an ability to provide expert advice to elected members, management and less experienced colleagues;
• experience in drafting responses to consultations on behalf of a local authority;
• an ability to draft funding bids and lobby for investment;
• an understanding of the requirements to deliver complex transport or public space projects; and
• a qualification in transport planning, highway engineering, urban design, town planning, regeneration, project management or a related discipline to degree level or equivalent with a proven track record of successful post-qualification practice.
