(BF4650) Port Health Officer

Our client is recruiting for Port Health Officers of various levels to start asap, on an ongoing basis.

JOB CONTEXT:

You will have extensive experience in food control as you will be responsible for acting as lead signatory for fishery products and composite goods along with:

1. Conducting Official Controls including carrying out checks on imports of products of animal origin and high risk food not of animal origin.
2. Undertaking checks of organic food, illegal unreported and unregulated fishing, animal composites and other relevant controlled goods.
3. Managing assigned staff within the service and take lead responsibility for aspects of Border Control Post work.
4. To take a lead role with the Border Inspection Post and imported food control

Qualifications and Professional or Vocational Training

To be considered you would need to be food competent and hold one of the following qualifications:

1. MSc, Degree or Diploma in Environmental Health and Certificate of Registration with the Environmental Health Registration Board EHRB (CIEH)
2. Higher Certificate in Food Control awarded by the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB);
3. Higher Certificate in Official Control awarded by the Scottish Food Safety Officers Registration Board (SFSORB)
4. Advanced Professional Certificate in Food Hygiene and Standards Control (APC)
5. Higher Certificate in Food Premises Inspection awarded by the EHRB, IFST or the SFSORB

Relevant Experience and Knowledge

·      At least 2 years experience of managing dealing with front line services in Environmental Health

·      Robust knowledge of relevant legislation relating to Environmental Health matters and experience of implementing legislative changes.

·      Experience relevant to satisfy criteria of food low code of practice (England) to inspect complex processes of approved premises and issue hygiene emergency prohibition notice.

·      Knowledge of domestic services within Environmental Health including but not exclusive to: Food Safety

·      Knowledge of commercial services within Environmental Health including but not exclusive to: food safety, health and safety at work and public health matters.

·      Experience of dealing with enforcement proceedings and other legal Environmental Health matters through the courts, and attending court to represent the council during  proceedings

·      Experience of preparing reports and attending meetings.
