Lead Building Surveyor – North of England (12 Month, Full Time)
Rate/Salary: £550 Inside
Location: North of England – regional coverage across Yorkshire (remote/flexible working available)
Buckingham Futures is recruiting on behalf of a leading Building Consultancy for an experienced Building Surveyor to join their thriving and collaborative team. This is an exciting opportunity to take a leading role in delivering high-quality surveying services, managing key client relationships, and supporting projects across both public and private sectors.
The successful candidate will bring strong technical expertise, proven project delivery skills, and the ability to lead on a diverse portfolio of building consultancy instructions.
Key Responsibilities
Project Delivery

Undertake technical due diligence for commercial and residential properties.

Prepare specifications, drawings, and risk assessments for refurbishments and maintenance works.

Conduct building surveys, schedules of condition, dilapidation assessments, and defect analysis.

Lead on project management, planned maintenance programmes, and quality assurance processes.

Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and best practice guidance.

Present findings and recommendations to clients and stakeholders in clear, professional reports.
Client & Team Leadership

Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor across the wider North region.

Manage stakeholder expectations and deliver consultancy advice that is practical, commercially sound, and technically robust.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues across England and Wales, contributing to shared learning and best practice.

Mentor and support junior team members, contributing to professional development within the team.
Requirements
-
MRICS (essential) or actively working towards chartership.

Strong background in Building Surveying, with experience across party wall matters, dilapidations, and defect analysis.

Demonstrable experience managing a diverse caseload and delivering projects to time and budget.

Excellent client relationship management and stakeholder engagement skills.

Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and collaboratively.

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
